The Challenge
When Kristina Frasier of KTF Construction Services came to Axons Agency, she already had an excellent reputation built almost entirely through referrals. Although the company had completed dozens of successful projects, only a handful had enough photos and documentation to create a traditional online portfolio.
For most contractors, I recommend launching with approximately 10 completed projects to demonstrate experience, craftsmanship, and the breadth of services they offer. In this case, we only had about half that number available.
Rather than delaying the website launch or publishing a thin portfolio, we developed a different strategy.
The Solution
Instead of relying solely on completed projects, we began documenting one of KTF Construction Services' active remodels as an ongoing blog series.
The featured project is a whole-home remodel and addition that follows the project from beginning to end.
Rather than waiting months until construction is complete, we created the first installment documenting the home's existing condition, the planned scope of work, and the vision for the transformation.

As construction progresses, we'll continue publishing updates showing major milestones throughout the build before ultimately adding the finished project to the company's permanent portfolio.
Why This Strategy Works
Documenting projects in phases creates valuable content long before construction is complete.
Each milestone becomes an opportunity to:
- Demonstrate ongoing work and active projects.
- Build trust by showing the construction process—not just the finished product.
- Keep the website fresh with regularly updated content.
- Improve search engine optimization (SEO) through new pages and relevant keywords.
- Give the contractor engaging content to share on social media.
- Create anticipation as homeowners follow the transformation from start to finish.
Instead of one completed project page, a single remodel can generate multiple pieces of high-quality content throughout the construction process.
The Website
Along with the project strategy, the new website includes:
- A modern, mobile-friendly design.
- Service pages for residential remodeling.
- A growing portfolio of completed projects.
- Licensing, insurance, and company information.
- Easy-to-use contact forms.
- Ongoing project updates through the Current Projects blog.
The result is a website that serves both as a professional portfolio and an evolving record of the company's work.
The Outcome
By the time the website launched, KTF Construction Services had:
- Five completed portfolio projects.
- One current project blog documenting the beginning of a major remodel.
- A content plan that will naturally grow as construction progresses.
- A repeatable process for turning every major project into multiple website and social media assets.
Rather than viewing an active construction project as "unfinished," we transformed it into one of the website's strongest marketing tools.
Key Takeaway
One of the biggest challenges contractors face is finding enough completed projects with quality photos to build a compelling online portfolio. The solution isn't always waiting until the work is done.
By documenting projects throughout construction, contractors can create a steady stream of valuable content that supports their website, strengthens SEO, provides social media material, and tells a richer story about the quality and care that goes into every job.
For KTF Construction Services, this approach filled a portfolio gap while giving prospective clients an authentic look at how the company manages projects from planning to completion.
